Welcome to Volume 2 Number 39 of this E-Newsletter. Grace, Mercy and Peace from our Risen Savior.
So there are just some weeks where you are sick and get very little done...and that is ok. There is some need today for some direct action so below is info from Katy Rustvold on behalf of the community of Oak Leaf Mobile Home Park in Cully.
Cully Neighbors, this is urgent!! Oak Leaf Mobile Home residents need your help TODAY to save their homes! In June, Commissioner Saltzman promised to help the Oak Leaf mobile home residents purchase their land for an affordable housing coorperative. Now he is breaking his promise.
Portland City Commissioner Dan Saltzman is breaking his promise to help Oak Leaf Mobile Home Park residents save their homes and establish Portland's first affordable housing cooperative. Residents received this news with only days remaining before the September 30 deadline to buy the park from their landlord.
Now Saltzman says, he will only provide funding to a third-party non-profit, if one can be found, that would buy the Oak Leaf and run it as a rental property. He has rejected the resident's offers to compromise.
If Saltzman's new plan goes forward, the current homes would be confiscated and residents who own their own homes would become renters in replacement homes owned by a new landlord. The resident's dream of self-determination and cooperative ownership would vanish into thin air.
Please Call Commissioner Dan Saltzman NOW at 503-823-4151 and/or email: email@example.com and tell him: "Commissioner Saltzman: Keep your promise to the Oak Leaf residents."
Come to City Hall Today to rally in support of the Oak Leaf residents. 1 pm at City Hall: 1221 SW 4th Ave. Friday, September 23.

There are some Lutheran community organizers looking to get to know SE Portland and do some work around concerns in the community. Fall is coming! So join Pastor Andrew on Wednesday to walk around the neighborhood. We will be meeting at 2:30 at the church and set off for a stroll around the neighborhood.
We have been invited on the second Friday of every month to join for worship with the saints at Our Lady of Sorrows Church here in Woodstock. At 7pm on those Fridays they gather for a Taize Service. Taize is an ecumenical community in France that has developed a method of prayer that combines music, prayer and silence. It is a beautiful service and something that cannot be related in words but needs to be experienced. If you are looking for a new worship opportunity you should check it out.
Holy Trinity's Little Library- Thanks to Keith our Little Library is now complete and up on the fence! It is located on Ogden Street right off of 39th. So if you need a book or have a few to donate swing on by.
