Welcome to Volume 2 Number 45 of this E-Newsletter.
Grace, Mercy and Peace from our Risen Savior.
I can't say that I know what to say today. I have a lot of thoughts and I have no thoughts. I am just heartbroken and I don't know what else to say.
I didn't know what to do today, and the best idea I could come up with was that I could stand and be a witness to something else. So I put on my clerical collar and stood with my Love More sign at Berkley Park this afternoon. I was met with many quizzical looks, many waves or honks, a couple people wanting to take my picture and a few knowing smiles. There were two responses I was not ready for that I received.
The first was from a woman who slowed down and shouted "Easy for your to say" (because it is easy for a white heterosexual male to say) "I am going to lose my healthcare, my marriage. Your sign is bulls***, I'm going to hate more." All I could say was that I was sorry and she drove off. I was speechless and my heart hurt for her and so many others that I know share her feelings. I still don't know how to process that interaction.
The second was from a young man who jumped out of a car and came bounding towards me as I was walking back to the church. He told me that he made his parents turn around because he had to talk to me. He thanked me and he agreed whole heartily that the only thing for us to do is to love and love more. I was once again left speechless because of the pure joy and enthusiasm of this young man. I thanked him for his love and we hugged and parted ways.
I don't yet know what all of this means, I don't know what is to come but I do remember the words from the Gospel this past Sunday. "But I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. If anyone strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from anyone who takes away your coat do not withhold even your shirt. Give to everyone who begs from you; and if anyone takes away your goods, do not ask for them again. Do to others as you would have them do to you." -Luke 6:27-31. Our Christian faith calls us to something more, something deeper and if there was ever a time to draw from that now seems to be the time.

Additionally, I forgot that we are having new floors put in the fellowship room when I had schedule our Supper Club, so that date is being changed as well.

Fall is now! So join Pastor Andrew on Wednesday to walk around the neighborhood. We will be meeting at 2:30 at the church and set off for a stroll around the neighborhood.
We have been invited on the second Friday of every month to join for worship with the saints at Our Lady of Sorrows Church here in Woodstock. At 7pm on those Fridays they gather for a Taize Service. Taize is an ecumenical community in France that has developed a method of prayer that combines music, prayer and silence. It is a beautiful service and something that cannot be related in words but needs to be experienced. If you are looking for a new worship opportunity you should check it out.
Holy Trinity's Little Library- Thanks to Keith our Little Library is now complete and up on the fence! It is located on Ogden Street right off of 39th. So if you need a book or have a few to donate swing on by.
