Welcome to Volume 2 Number 18 of this E-Newsletter.
So much to write about and so little time. Some weeks hit you like feather and some like a brick. This is a week, where there is just too many exciting things going on. So let's hit a few highlights.
Tom and I had a fantastic weekend down in Eugeg for the Oregon Synod Assembly. It is always such a Spirit filled occasion where we can share in fellowship, worship, service and conversation with our brothers and sisters from around the state. Many important conversations and votes were held, the three that stood out for me was the commitment by the Oregon Synod to be Synod of Sanctuary for refugees (I believe we are the first in the ELCA to do such), we affirmed our desire of access to health care for all and now will have extra representation at Synod Assembly from those from the LGBTQIA community. There will be more from Tom and I in the coming weeks about the experience.
Today is a High Holy Day, it is Ascension Day. It is the day in-which Jesus ascended from the mountaintop up into Heaven. On this day we were promised that the Holy Spirit would be with us and dwell with us forever. More importantly we were instructed not to look upwards to look for Jesus but rather seek Christ in their midst. This is the beginning of our calling to go out into the world and find Christ in our brothers and sister in the world.
Finally, this Saturday is our Church Clean-Up, our Spring cleaning day if you will. We will be gathering around 9 to get started with projects around the church. It looking like it will be a beautiful day and I hope that we can get some great stuff done around the church.

In June we will once again be having our Church Picnic, we will be worshiping outside that Sunday if weather permits and then gathering for food and fellowship afterwards. There will be a signup sheet in the fellowship room.
May is the next month where we will have a 5th Sunday In-gathering! We will be donating again to Camp Lutherwood as they get ready for their Summer Camp Season! One thing that they are looking for before camp starts are Legos, not so much the people or the accessories but the blocks! So if you have any kicking around or can purchase some new ones, go for it and drop them by Holy Trinity!
July will also be a month with 5 Sundays, so we will be helping to assemble Personal Care Kits for Lutheran World Relief. Our Sunday School is officially back and off to a great start! One Sunday a month we will have an extra focus on Christian Education. Our Church in Action Children's Program will be integrated with our Sunday Worship. Be sure to be here on May 15th for our next Sunday School.
*New *July 11-15 will be the Community Vacation Bible School at Holy Family. Folks from Holy Family, Moreland Presbertyian St. Ignatius and Holy Trinity will be coming together to do VBS together. If you have any kids in your like make sure to invite them. We will have flyers at the Church in the coming weeks. If you would like to volunteer and help out let Pastor Andrew know.
If you are like me and do searching for things on the internet do I have a thing for you. I have gotten Holy Trinity set up with Goodsearch.com. It is an online search engine that is powered by yahoo and every time you use it search engine it donates to a charity of your choice, in our situation that is Holy Trinity. So set that browser to good search and select Holy Trinity and get searching.
We have been invited on the second Friday of every month to join for worship with the saints at Our Lady of Sorrows Church here in Woodstock. At 7pm on those Fridays they gather for a Taize Service. Taize is an ecumenical community in France that has developed a method of prayer that combines music, prayer and silence. It is a beautiful service and something that cannot be related in words but needs to be experienced. If you are looking for a new worship opportunity you should check it out.
-Spring is here! So join Pastor Andrew on Wednesday to walk around the neighborhood. We will be meeting at 2:30 at the church and set off for a stroll around the neighborhood.
Holy Trinity's Little Library- Thanks to Keith our Little Library is now complete and up on the fence! It is located on Ogden Street right off of 39th. So if you need a book or have a few to donate swing on by.
